Australian Technology Education Research Conference

The ATERC conference builds on the legacy of Professors Kurt Seemann and John Williams. Kurt and John have been key builders of research in technology education and were the instigators of the DATTArc conference. The organising committee wish to honour their legacy by continuing the opportunity for researchers to promote their work.

Submission types

Each submission type caters to different stages and scopes of research, allowing for a variety of presentation styles and engagement with the audience.

Full Research Paper
(peer reviewed)
  • Length: Up to 10 pages.
  • Presentation Time: 20 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A.
  • Description: A comprehensive and detailed report of original research. It includes a thorough explanation of the research question, methodology, results, and discussion. This format is ideal for presenting complete and significant research findings in the Technologies education area.
Concise Paper/Work in Progress/Future Research
  • Length : Up to 5 pages.
  • Presentation Time : 15 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A.
  • Description: A shorter report that presents preliminary findings, ongoing research, or partial results. It provides an overview of the research objectives, methods, and early outcomes. This format is suitable for getting feedback on developing research and workshopping ideas for future research.
Digital
Poster
  • Length: Up to 500 words.
  • Description : A visual representation of research findings displayed on a digital platform (one slide). It highlights the main points, such as the research question, methods, key results, and conclusions. This format is effective for visually engaging the audience and encouraging informal discussions.
Symposium or
Panel Session
  • Presentation Time : 25 minutes.
  • Description : A session that includes multiple speakers discussing different aspects of a central theme or topic. The submission should outline the theme, objectives, and the contributions of each panellist. This format fosters in-depth discussion and diverse perspectives on a specific subject. Audience participation will also be encouraged.
Extended Abstract
(Pecha Kucha Format)
  • Length : 20 slides
  • Presentation Time : 7 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A
  • Description : An abstract that summarises the main points of the research in a concise manner. The Pecha Kucha format involves a rapid presentation style with 20 slides shown for 20 seconds each, totalling 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This format emphasises clarity and brevity, making it suitable for succinctly conveying key research insights.

This inaugural ATERC conference will be hosted by iTE at their conference in Sydney NSW Australia. For our attendees to receive member discount please use the following instructions to register on their website.

You can attend all three days of the iTE Conference or just one or two days of the ATERC conference. We suggest the following:
